Children's Musical Theater celebrates its 15th anniversary

The Children's Musical Theatre of Bartlesville has been "enriching the lives of youth by providing quality musical theatre performance and educational opportunities" since their start in 2000. Past productions have included Cinderella, The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz and many more. Don't miss the opportunity to see the youth of Bartlesville put on a thrilling show!

The summer of 2000 saw the birth of a new non-profit, fine arts program in Bartlesville with the premiere production for Children’s Musical Theatre of Bartlesville.  It was truly a “Cinderella” story as a small group of people with a desire to see a children’s theatre program in our hometown, banded together to do what many thought impossible.

With the support of large groups of creative, hard working volunteers, the productions of ‘Cinderella’ in 2000, ‘The Wizard of Oz’ in 2001, ‘Bye, Bye Birdie’ in 2002, ‘The Sound of Music’ in 2003, ‘Peter Pan’ in 2004, ‘Annie’ in 2005, ‘Beauty and the Beast’ in 2006, ‘Oliver’ in 2007, ‘High School Musical’ in 2008, ‘The Wizard of Oz’ in 2009, ‘The Music Man’ in 2010, ‘Annie Get Your Gun’ in 2011, and ‘Willy Wonka’ in 2012 were outstanding performances of full-scale musicals, complete with quality vocal and orchestra music, special effects, beautiful sets, realistic costuming, challenging choreography and top-notch character portrayals. CMT, a 501(c)3 organization, was excited and proud to perform the Oklahoma premiere of a new musical, ‘A Little Princess’, in 2013. This musical adaptation of the popular 19th century children’s story by Francis Hodgson Burnett featured a cast of 80 local youth, 9 talented students in the pit orchestra (mentored by accomplished and professional adult musicians), and 4 college student interns as part of the production staff. The musical was performed July 18-21, 2013 at the Bartlesville Community Center.

Being able to host a musical premiere spotlights how CMT has grown and matured in 14 years. Those who attend our shows are always impressed with the quality of work children are capable of when given professional instruction and theatrical support. To be eligible to audition for our summer production, kids must be Grades 2-10 at the time of the spring audition. Other workshops, camps, and performance opportunities are open to a variety of ages, depending on the program.

CMT started the celebration its 15th year by reprising ‘Peter Pan’ as its 2014 summer musical! First staged by CMT in 2004, it was time to fly to Never Land again!

Mission Statement: Enriching the lives of youth by providing quality musical theatre performance and educational opportunities.
