Volunteer at the Bartlesville Community Center

The Community Center uses volunteers to assist in many areas of service. These opportunities are during the week as well as in the evenings and on weekends. The volunteer program allows us to keep rental costs at a fraction of what they would be if the program did not exist, and enables everyone, including non-profit organizations as well as local dance studios and touring Broadway productions, to benefit from our volunteers' services.

If you have some time that you might want to devote to volunteering, please call (918-337-2787) or email () Volunteer Coordinator, Betsy Geibel to discuss your interests and availability. Current positions available include:

Receptionist

This position requires professional telephone skills (and good hearing) as well as the ability and desire to interact with, and provide assistance to, the public. Currently we are using receptionists on an "as needed" basis only.

Daytime Box Office

This position requires a real "people person" with good telephone and communication skills. Must be patient, accurate, detail oriented, and comfortable with numbers and money. Positions are on an “as needed” basis during busy times.

Performance Box Office

This position has the same requirements as the Daytime Box Office plus the ability to stand for an hour and work at a fast pace. Performance Box Office shifts vary according to the performance scheduled, but extend from one hour prior to show time until shortly after the start of the performance.

Usher

This position requires a volunteer who is physically able to climb stairs, stand for extended periods of time, walk rapidly, greet the public graciously, accept directions from the Volunteer House Manager and be able to help in an emergency situation.  Hours vary according to performances, but extend from one hour before a performance until approximately fifteen minutes after the end of the performance. Ushers are usually assigned to a seat in the auditorium during part, but generally not all, of the performance.

House Manager & Assistant House Manager

These positions require an experienced volunteer usher with a minimum of 50 hours ushering experience. The House Manager & Assistant must be able to direct all ushers in their duties and take charge in an emergency situation. They must be capable of delegating and giving directions to both ushers and patrons. House Managers and Assistants must be able to enforce the Center's rules, but should be flexible enough to handle situations where exceptions need to be made.  Hours vary according to performances where they extend from 1 hour 15 minutes prior to performance time through approximately 15 minutes after the end of a performance.

Miscellaneous

We need occasional help with mailings, filing, driving, decorating, laundry and other special projects. Let us know what you can do!
